For the seventh time in her career, Taylor Swift has the #1 album on the Billboard 200, this time with Folklore. The surprise album moved the sales-and-streaming equivalent of 846,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week of availability, the biggest sales week for any album since Swift's last one, Lover, which sold 867,000 copies in September of 2019. (Swift's label, Republic, said two million copies of Folklore were sold worldwide in its debut week.) As The Los Angeles Times notes, only Barbra Streisand and Madonna have scored more #1 albums on the Billboard 200, with 11 and nine, among female artists, while The Beatles are the all-time leaders with 19.
