The 2020 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, which were announced this week, feature a bevy of the music industry's biggest stars. The AP reports that the Apple TV+ documentary Beastie Boys Story picked up five nominations, including two for Mike “Mike D” Diamond and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz, while Jennifer Lopez and Shakira's 2020 Super Bowl halftime show racked up four nods. Pharrell Williams and his Neptunes partner Chad Hugo also got nominated for outstanding original music and lyrics for “Letter to My Godfather” from The Black Godfather, the Netflix documentary about music executive Clarence Avant. Williams and Hugo will face stiff competition in their category from Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who are up for their musical work on HBO's Watchmen, producer-singer Labrinth for the music on HBO's Euphoria and Ingrid Michaelson for her contributions to the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere.
