Seattle Sounders FC announced Tuesday that 11 families have become new owners of the MLS franchise. The Seattle Times reports that among the new owners are a few familiar names: Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara, hip-hop artist Macklemore and his wife Tricia Davis, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and his wife Anu. They join current owners Adrian Hanauer, Drew Carey and Jody Allen, while founding owner Joe Roth departs. “Seattle means so much to me and Ciara,” Wilson says. “We’re fired up about being part of the Sounders for a long, long time, having ownership in the Sounders and continuing to build that winning culture." Macklemore, who grew up in the city, adds, “Man, to be part of this organization, having grown up in Seattle--it’s pretty surreal. It’s just very exciting. I’m very honored."
