On Thursday, organizers stressed once again that the coronavirus currently sweeping through China will not affect the status of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. "I would like to make it clear again that we are not considering a cancellation or postponement of the games. Let me make that clear," organizing committee president Yoshiro Mori told IOC officials. The news comes on the same day Japan recorded its first death attributed to the virus. The country has 250 cases overall, with most coming from a cruise ship that's being quarantined at a Yokohama port. Sports in China are falling by the wayside due to the virus, however. On Wednesday, however, officials nixed a Formula One race set for April 19 in Shanghai, which comes on the heels of most Olympic-qualifying events also being cancelled, including the indoor world track and field championships in Nanjing.
