Billie Eilish Drops Hopeful New Single "My Future"
July 31, 2020
Grammy-winning sensation Billie Eilish dropped her latest single on Thursday, just in time for her producer brother Finneas' 23rd birthday. As Rolling Stone reports, "My Future" is the 18 year old's first quarantine release, and it's both wistful and hopeful. Accompanied by a gorgeously animated video by Australian artist Andrew Onorato, the song starts off feeling dark and somber. But as it goes on, the percussion kicks in and speeds things up. Eilish sings, “I’m in love with my future, can’t wait to meet her. I’m in love, but not with anybody else. Just want to get to know myself." The singer also sent an email to fans on Thursday, in which she shared, “We wrote this at the very beginning of quarantine. It’s a song that’s really, really personal and special to me. When we wrote this song, it was exactly where my head was at—hopeful, excited and a crazy amount of self-reflection and self-growth. But recently it has also taken on a lot of new meaning in the context of what’s happening in the world now. I hope you can all find meaning in it for yourselves.”
